Card processing for seasonal businesses in Medora

Medora is tiny, but as North Dakota's number one tourist town it draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every summer, and nearly all of them pay by card. Whether you run a hotel, a restaurant, a shop, or a tour business, that seasonal visitor trade is your whole year. You should not lose part of it to hidden fees or get stuck on hold with a big processor that has never heard of Billings County. We keep your pricing honest, your setup simple, and your questions answered by a real person.

Medora and the area we serve

Medora is a tiny Old West town set among the buttes and painted canyons of the North Dakota Badlands, and it's North Dakota's leading travel destination. It was founded in 1883 by a French nobleman, the Marquis de Mores, who named it for his wife and built a meatpacking venture on the northern plains. His 26-room chateau still overlooks the town from across the river as a state historic site. That same era drew a young Theodore Roosevelt to ranch and hunt in the Badlands, an experience that shaped his conservation legacy.

Today Medora is the gateway to the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, whose bison, wild horses, and canyons begin at the edge of town, and Roosevelt's own Maltese Cross Cabin sits by the visitor center. The boardwalk-lined downtown along 3rd Avenue centers on the restored Rough Riders Hotel, and the town's signature draw is the Medora Musical, a country-western show staged nightly through the summer at the open-air Burning Hills Amphitheatre, preceded by the famous Pitchfork Steak Fondue. Much of the town is run by the nonprofit Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation, and the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library has opened here.

For a town of barely more than a hundred residents, the summer visitor flow is enormous, and the season is short: roughly June through mid-September the place is packed, then it goes quiet for the long winter. For the hotels, restaurants, and shops compressing their year into a few months, dependable card processing matters. We set up payments around how a summer-only Badlands tourism town actually works.
