How Honest Pricing Works
Every processor says they have great rates. So the phrase "honest pricing" should mean nothing, marketing fluff. Except in this particular industry, it means quite a lot, because the payments business has spent decades earning a reputation for the opposite. Here's what the words actually have to stand for to matter.
It means you can see the markup. The fixed costs (interchange and assessments) are the same everywhere. The only thing a processor controls is their markup. Honest pricing means that number is stated plainly, not buried inside a blended rate you can't take apart. If a provider won't tell you their markup, the pricing isn't honest, whatever the headline rate says.
It means no surprise fees. The oldest trick in the industry is a low advertised rate wrapped in a stack of monthly fees, statement fees, PCI fees, "regulatory" fees, that make the real cost much higher. Honest pricing means the fees are disclosed up front and the number you were quoted is the number on the statement.
It means no traps to leave. Long contracts with early-termination penalties exist to keep you paying even when you have found something better. A provider confident in its pricing doesn't need to trap you. Honest pricing means you can walk away any time without a penalty, because they would rather keep you by being good than by being binding.
It means telling you when you already have a good deal. This is the real test, and almost nobody passes it. A provider willing to look at your current statement and say "actually, you're already paying a fair rate, don't switch" is one telling you the truth even when it costs them a sale. That's the whole thing in one gesture.
We built this business on that last point specifically. Send us your current statement, and if you're already getting a fair deal, we'll tell you so and you can go about your day. If you're not, we'll show you exactly why, side by side. Either way, you get the truth.
