Payment Processing in Eastport, ME

From the dock and the farmers market to your Main Street counter, take cards wherever your customers are, in season and year-round.

Eastport is the easternmost city in the United States, a working waterfront on Passamaquoddy Bay where a downtown of nineteenth-century brick sits above salmon pens, lobster boats and a deep-water port. You get fair rates, no long contracts, and a real person who actually answers when you call.

What we help you take, on the water and in town

Our small business credit card processing gives Eastport shops and restaurants the POS systems, credit card terminals, and merchant services they need.

  • Take card payments in person with tap, chip, swipe and phone payments, at a Water Street counter, a restaurant table or a dockside window.
  • Set up registers, card readers, and full POS systems matched to how the shops, kitchens and lodgings here actually operate.
  • Handle mobile and on-the-go payments for the businesses working off the pier, on the water and at events rather than at a fixed till.

Serving Eastport and its waterfront

Eastport was built on sardines. From the 1870s the waterfront carried dozens of canneries along with the factories that made the tins and the byproducts, and the downtown of nineteenth-century brick commercial buildings along Water Street, looking out over Passamaquoddy Bay, is what that money built. The industry declined with changing tastes and catch quotas, and the last cannery closed in 1983.

The water still pays the bills, differently. Salmon is farmed in pens just offshore, with eighteen of them near Eastport run by Cooke Aquaculture, currently the only salmon aquaculture operation in Maine, and the company employs people in Eastport and across Washington County while supporting the suppliers and services around it year round. Alongside that, commercial fishermen land lobster, scallops and urchins. The Tides Institute and Museum of Art holds the history and culture of the Passamaquoddy region, and the Salmon and Seafood Festival each Labor Day weekend is the town's own celebration of the industry that replaced the canneries.

So the trade here has two rhythms. There is a steady year-round base tied to the port, the aquaculture operation and the people who live here, and there is a summer and festival layer of visitors who have come a long way to reach the easternmost city in the country. A business on Water Street is usually serving both, and the payment setup has to suit a quiet Tuesday in March as well as Labor Day weekend.

Card processing for waterfront and Main Street businesses

Eastport is a working harbor first and a visitor town second, which means a business here is often serving both: crews and year-round residents through the week, and travelers and festival crowds in the summer. Payments have to work at a counter on Water Street, on a boat, and at an event on the pier, without three separate systems and three separate bills.

Questions about card processing in Eastport

We serve locals year round and visitors in summer. Does that change the setup?
It changes what to optimize for. A steady year-round base means the fixed monthly charges matter less than they do for a purely seasonal business, but the summer peak still has to be handled without the system straining. We look at both halves of your year.
Can we take cards on the pier, on a boat or at the festival?
Yes. Handheld readers on cellular work away from your building, which covers the pier, an event and most of the harbor, and they print or email a receipt there and then.
Are we locked into a multi-year contract if we sign up here in Eastport?
No. There are no multi-year contracts, so you're never stuck with us. We aim to keep you by earning it.
How do I know you'll actually save me money over what I pay now?
We show you real numbers side by side against your current statement. If we can't beat what you pay now, we'll tell you straight rather than waste your time.
